Private Jet Charters from Washington, DC to New York City

Washington

With flight times under an hour, flying from the nation’s capital to NYC is one of the most popular private jet routes in the country. Compare that to drive times of 4 hours or more and 3 hours on express trains, it’s no wonder many skip the drive and opt to fly private. For a busy executive that needs to take a meeting in the city for the day, an entire day is saved in travel time alone. When time matters most, flying privately is the most efficient travel option.

Save Time & Money—Charter a Private Jet with GrandView Aviation

In October 2018 alone, over 500 private jets flew between Teterboro airport (TEB) and Washington, DC’s Dulles Airport (IAD), the areas’ most popular private jet airports. Washington, DC’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) only had 34 private flights in the same time period. Reagan National is a quick 15- or 20-minute drive to downtown but since 9/11, the airport has special security restrictions that increase costs and reduce convenience. To operate in and out of DCA, private jet operators must receive special authority from the government, and an armed guard must be on board the aircraft. When booking a private charter in or out of this airport, be prepared to spend a minimum of $2,000 in additional security fees. Flights to and from the airport are regulated by slot times, so your flexibility is reduced as well as the ability to add on additional passengers at the last minute.

In New York City, Teterboro is the natural choice for private jet fliers going to Manhattan. The majority of commercial airline traffic occurs at Newark (EWR), John F Kennedy (JFK), and LaGuardia (LGA); these airports can create major delays for private jet fliers, especially when winter weather and summer storms occur.

To shorten travel time and avoid traffic from Teterboro to Manhattan, there are a number of helicopter charter operators that can get fliers from TEB to Wall Street, East 34th Street or West 30th Street in less than 15 minutes. Many NYC helipads have off-hour landing restrictions, so West 30th Street heliport is recommended for 24-hour weekday and weekend operations—but be prepared for additional after-hours fees should you need to land or depart in the evening. Depending on your final destination, White Plains (HPN) or Morristown (MMU) could get you closer to your final destination with fewer delays.
