Director of Operations

Dan Rice started at GrandView in 2018 as a Phenom300 Pilot, then served as Chief Pilot before being promoted to Director of Operations in 2022. In his current role, he oversees a team of 70+ including pilots, OCC and safety personnel. Through the Schedules and Flight Following Supervisor and designated personnel, he is responsible for the coordination, scheduling, flight planning, flight release, monitoring, and cancellation of all flights and exercises operational control over flight release. He ensures and verifies that Company flight operations are conducted in accordance with applicable FARs and Company regulations and policies and signs for the Company for the issuance and receipt of Operations Specifications. Prior to GrandView, Dan managed and operated the fixed wing assets of the Maryland State Police for 16 years until his retirement in 2018. Before that, he performed duties as both Captain and First Officer at regional airlines including USAir Express, Continental Connection, and United Express. Before starting at the airlines, he was a charter pilot and senior instructor at a busy part 141 flight school in South Florida, and also served in the United States Air Force for 6 years.
