Best Celebrity Private Jets

best celebrity private jets

Ever wonder which celebrities enjoy traveling on their own private jets? While there are many, we've rounded up 11 of our favorites.

There’s nothing more celebrity than a private jet, and an added benefit is it cuts out the typical hassle of travel. Private jet charters give passengers safe, reliable and on-demand transportation that saves countless hours of travel time.

11 of the Best Celebrity Private Jets

Flying private provides efficiency, safety and luxury when you need to travel, and here are some of the prominent celebrities who own private jets.

1. Oprah Winfrey’s Bombardier Global Express XRS

Oprah Winfrey's private Bombardier jet is the ultimate in luxury. It features an all-leather interior, full bathroom and galley.

The Bombardier Global Express XRS is also equipped with two Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines. The jet has enough power to complete long-range trips (even across the world) with only one refuel.

2. Jimmy Buffet’s HU-16 Albatross

Affectionally called the “Hemisphere Dancer,” this aircraft isn't technically a jet. Instead, it's an ex-military aircraft powered by two 1,425 radial engines, and it can land on runways or water. Considering its life began in 1955 for the U.S. Navy, we’d say that it still holds up pretty well.

The singer/songwriter bought this aircraft back in 1990, and it’s officially on display at Margaritaville — making it one of the few private aircraft you can see yourself.

3. Jim Carrey’s Gulfstream V

Known for safety and performance, the Gulfstream V is a highly respected aircraft within the industry. This jet has a max altitude of about 51,000 feet and a range of about 5,300 nautical miles (nm).

Carrey employs a two-person crew to operate the jet, which can hold about 16 passengers. The plane is available for charter when he’s not flying it — for about $8,000 an hour.

4. Bill Gates’ Bombardier BD-700

Of course one of the richest men in the world had to make the list with a very luxurious aircraft. The BD-700 Global Express has a range of over 6,000 nm and has advanced navigation technology for incredibly efficient flights.

In addition to the Bombardier, Gates owns two Gulfstream 650ER jets, and his foundation owns two Challenger 350s.

5. Mark Cuban’s Gulfstream V

Cuban’s private jet experience dates back to 1999 when he bought his first jet, a Gulfstream G550, for $40 million online, which is still the largest single e-commerce transaction ever

He also bought a Boeing 727 to transport the Dallas Mavericks, the NBA team he owns. The 727 is outfitted to match his team’s needs and make their travels as comfortable as possible. Cuban also owns a Boeing 767, which he makes available to charter.

6. Jay-Z’s Bombardier Challenger 850 Learjet

Given as a Father’s Day gift, the private jet holds between 15 and 19 passengers and is equipped with a kitchen along with two bathrooms. It also features cream leather furniture and is the largest of its kind.

Considering this was given to Jay-Z before he and Beyoncé had a big family, it’s tough to imagine her outdoing herself in the future.

7. Harrison Ford’s Cessna Citation Sovereign 680

Ford is one of the most famous actors, and he’s been known to operate various vehicles throughout his film career. His real-life isn’t much different with a vast and growing collection of vehicles.

It’s estimated he has around 10 aircraft and numerous other cars, bikes and vans. The twin-engine Sovereign 680 is the star of his collection, with a 3,200 nautical mile range and plenty of seating capacity for guests.

He’s also a pilot himself, so he's able to fly his own private aircraft.

8. Jackie Chan’s Embraer Legacy 650

The Embraer Legacy 650 is a top executive jet with plenty of room for passengers and a long travel range. He had a dragon painted on the outside and has a section for every major part of life — work, play and rest — within the interior.

Chan, a brand ambassador for Embraer, also bought the Legacy 500 for shorter trips and even more flexibility.

9. Donald Trump’s Boeing 727-23

The former president is no stranger to the bold and lavish. His Boeing 727 is embellished with a 23-carat gold Trump logo on the site and gold-plated seatbelt buckles.

Its inside is decked out with full seating and dining amenities, including a dining room, conference room and two bedrooms. The famous businessman indeed travels in style every time he’s in the air.

10. Tom Cruise’s Gulfstream IV

Like Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise is a licensed pilot, having received his license in 1994. He's been an active part of the aviation community ever since. His 1998 Gulfstream IV features full travel accommodations and refreshes the cabin air every two minutes.

With a beautiful interior and a 19-person capacity, this is one of the best private planes around.

11. John Travolta’s 3 Gulfstream Jets, a Boeing 707-138, and a Learjet

The movie star is perhaps the best example of aviation excitement with his great five private planes. His collection is even more impressive because he can keep it right at his house, which features a 7,500 ft. runway.

The story doesn’t stop there. Travolta has also been an "an ambassador-at-large" for Australian airline Qantas since 2002. His Qantas Boeing 707 is just one of the planes he keeps at his Florida home.
